Mythology and Our Inspiration.
Linearity’s first design story is born from NavDurga-the nine archetypes of feminine power from ancient mythology. Nav means nine. Durga means the invincible. Together, they reflect the many chapters of a woman’s life and the full expression of her strength.
The Nine Archetypes Behind Our Designs
• Shailaputri – The girl who stands firm in her own strength.
• Brahmacharini – Focused, curious, committed to growth.
• Chandraghanta – Soft on the outside, courageous within.
• Kushmanda – Creative energy that builds and uplifts.
• Skanda Mata – Nurturing, steady, and deeply caring.
• Katyayani – Fearless in claiming her space and rights.
• Kalaratri – Meeting darkness with clarity and courage.
• Maha Gauri – Accomplished, calm, and in balance.
• Siddhidhatri – A life lived fully, distilled into insight.
Our collections draw from nature to express these qualities-resilience as lotus leaf, pristine as water, and more. Every Linearity piece is designed to remind women of what they already are: powerful, worthy, and wonderfully whole.

Founders - Sumitra and Ani.
At 50, after retiring from a high-powered finance career as a CPA certified in both the US and India, Sumitra founded Linearity-a sustainable handbag brand born from a mother's deepest love and a startling wake-up call from the next generation.
As the mom of two Gen Z boys, Sumitra treasured those simple evenings around the dinner table, sharing laughs, dreams, and glimpses into their worlds.
But one unassuming chat about relationships, ambitions, and what lies ahead left her breathless. Her 16-year-old son met her gaze with quiet conviction: "Mama, I don't want to marry or start a family. I can't be that selfish-adding another 200 to 300 tons of waste to this planet, fueling its devastation."
His words echoed the quiet fears of a generation raised amid climate alerts and fleeting fads, where every choice feels like a burden on the Earth we love. For Sumitra, it was a spark of clarity: fashion, so often a source of waste, could instead become a force for healing and hope.
Drawing from her own roots in a family rich with stories of resilience-tales of strong women passed down from grandparents through ancient myths and everyday triumphs-she envisioned Linearity as more than luxury.
Her son Ani, shaped by that same nurturing legacy of family lore and open-hearted debates, joined her as co-founder, weaving those multidimensional stories into every design.
Together, they've launched "Real Women and Real Stories," a campaign that celebrates authentic voices, inspiring Gen Z to embrace a world where sustainability and self-expression go hand in hand.
